PE Curriculum
Miss Bailey has specialist sports qualifications to ensure all our children receive the highest quality PE lessons.
In Key stage 1, children will be taught the fundamental movements and skills required for games through a multi skills approach focusing on throwing and catching, hitting and kicking during the first term. During the summer term we will focus on the skills for net games and fielding games. In addition, dance, gymnastics, outdoor and adventurous activities and athletics will also be covered throughout the year. For children in reception, we will be meeting the relevant standards set out in the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’ and contributing to each child’s individual ‘learning journals’ with evidence of their achievements in PE.
In Key stage 2, children will be taught specific skills for activities including games (netball, hockey, tag rugby, football, kwick cricket, rounders, tennis), gymnastics, dance, swimming, outdoor and adventurous activities, athletics and health related exercise (cross country and fitness activities).
We believe this gives a broad and balanced PE curriculum which will accommodate the wide interests of children, from games to individual activities.
