Friday 25 November 2022 Week 4 - 25th November 2022 Over the past two weeks in Goshawks, our main role in class has been as a Scientist. We have explored and investigated viscosity and we have also experimented with melting and freezing using a variety of different liquids. Making hypotheses, we noticed that the more viscous liquids did not necessarily take longer to melt when salt was added to the frozen liquids. In English, we finished our poems by practicing our word processing skills on laptops and putting together our poems using verses and formatting. I will find a way of adding these to the blog to share them with you, as the children should be proud of their final creations of 'Autumn is Here'. We have now begun to look at creating a diary entry, from the perspective of Maya, who was Tutankhamun's best friend. We are writing about the final stages of Tutankhamun's life. In Maths, we have been focusing on our times tables. In class we have been multiplying and dividing in our 3, 4 and 8 times tables. We have explored the differen

Friday 11 November 2022 Autumn 2 - Week 2 This week has been a busy one in Goshawks. In English we have been creating the verses for our poem of the season, titled 'Autumn is Here'. So far we have created five verses focusing on the sky, decorations, nature and personification to name a few. We have been exploring metaphors and similes as well as increasing the number of synonyms we are using for different words throughout the verses. We hope to have it finished and able to share it with you in full by the end of next week.In Design Technology, we have begun our work on Paper Circuits. Using copper tape, small coin cell batteries and LEDs, we created a circuit today which we will be able to replicate within the design of our project, which may or may not include a card to commemorate a certain time of year. The children will submit their design ideas next week and we will get on with the production of them soon after. Thank you to all parents who have attended their parents evening, it has been a pleasure to share the children'

Friday 21 October 2022 Week 7 - 21 October 2022 Well, what a week to finish a very busy half term on. This week the children have created explanation texts which determine the way that the digestive system 'really works'. We have combined our learning in English with Science to create two fantastic pieces of writing. Children have been selected to represent the school at the County Cross Country Competition on 2nd November, so well done to everyone who participated so well in the PE Lessons, it was really hard to pick just a few to represent us.In Art, we now have some miniature L.S Lowry prodigees. The children have created some incredible Lowry inspired pieces, depicting a work scene to end our unit focusing on 'All Work and No Play'. All of this while the children have completed the first assessment window of the year as well. Well done to all. I hope you have a very active half term, I'm counting my steps and I hope you will be too. Look after your fitness trackers and we can all track our Steps into Christmas (only 65 days to g

After several years of not being able to access as wider range of books, the children have been exploring the range of titles available to them, with both fiction and non-fiction available. Elsewhere in the curriculum, the children have been exploring the use of ascending and descending order in Maths. In English we have been using comparatives and superlatives, as well as similes to describe the actions of Henry, the incredible book-eating boy.

Friday 16 September 2022 Goshawks - 16th September 2022 This week in Goshawk class we have been getting to grips with Ancient Egypt. We’ve spent time looking at the events which occurred over the entire period and into the modern day. We have then looked at ordering these to create our own timeline. The children spent some time considering how the timeline moves from BC to AD.
