Overview
At Kenninghall Primary School we pride ourselves on offering a rich and broad curriculum that is contextualised for our learners. Long term planning from KS1 is mixed age and is designed to be progressive as the children move through the school. We interleave key knowledge, so that children deepen their understanding over time.
Maths Mastery
We are proud to be working in partnership with Ark Curriculum Plus, to develop our practice in the teaching of maths. We collaborate across our trust as well as with a specialist development partner to ensure fidelity to the programme and extend our ambition for learners.
Success for All Phonics
The school uses FFT's Success for All phonics programme to ensure a clear and progressive approach to the teaching of systematic synthetic phonics. This programme comes with a robust intervention package called 'Lightening Squad' which helps ensure that every learner gets a flying start to their reading journey.
RE & PSHRE
We have a planned curriculum for the teaching of religious education that is designed to be inclusive and promote understanding of a wide range of beliefs and faiths. Parents have a right to withdraw their children from some or all of these lessons, but should inform the school at the point of their child's admission.
Our PSHE (Personal, Social, Health Education) and RSE(Relationships and Sex Education) lessons are extremely important as they teach our children how to keep themselves safe and healthy, promoting the values of positive relationships and an understanding of difference. Most of our relationship and sexual health teaching is embedded in our wider curriculum, including science, however if we are teaching content specific to sexual health and relationships, we promote this to families so that they can view and understand the content and make a decision as to whether they would like their child to access this learning in school.
If you would like to find out more about our school's curriculum, please speak to your child's class teacher, or make an appointment via the school office to speak to Mr Seager or Mr Fleckney.
