All classes have enjoyed maths cafes during November. Children worked on problem solving within maths in a variety of ways. We also introduced our new maths homework called Mathletics, a web based maths learning environment.
Maths Long-term Plans
Children all enjoyed a maths house morning with parents and carers. Children worked in teams to design and build a bridge made from lolly sticks, straws and masking tape. The bridge had to be at least 30cm long and hold 500g. Many bridges held up to 5kg!
Tigers worked outside making pictures out of natural materials. Children were given a number of items they were allowed to find which they then had to make a picture with.
Tigers also practised their number bonds to 20, making a kite with all the pairs of numbers they know that make 20.
Children enjoyed making 3D shapes from straws and lolly pop sticks.
